Gobi Matar (Cauliflower with Peas)

Gobi Matar is one of the most popular North Indian vegetarian curry dishes. Cauliflower and green peas sauted cookedwith adition a few aromatic Indian spices.

Ingredients:

Serves 4

  • 1 small head of cauliflower cut into florets 1 cup grean peas (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 2-3 garlic cloves chopped
  • 1 inch fresh ginger peeled/finely grated
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 chopped tomato
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • salt to taste
  • finely chopped cilantro leaves, to garnish

How to make Cauliflower with Peas:

  1. Heat the oil in a large, heavy pot. Add chopped onion and cook until they're soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. A 1.dd the garlic, ginger and saute until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  2. Add the cauliflower and turmeric, coriander and cumin. Season with salt and pepper (optional) and sauté for 5 more minutes.
  3. Add chopped tomato and cook for additional 15 minutes. When the cauliflower starts sticking to the pan you can add few tablespoons of water.
  4. Finally, add the peas. For for aditional 5 minutes on low-medium heat. Serve hot with roti or paratha.
