Bhaturas are deep-fried puffed up breads while frying. The semolina makes it crisp on the outside, but they are soft from inside. They are often served with masala chick peas.
Ingredients:
Serves 4
2 cups ( 250gt/8 oz) plain flour
¾ cup (100 g/ 3 oz) semolina
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
½ cup yogurt
vegetable oil for deep frying
How to make Bhatura Bread:
Soak semolina for 15 minutes in just enough water to cover it.
Sift flour, salt and baking soda. Add sugar, semolina and yogurt. Knead with some water to make a smooth dough of rolling consistency.
Brush the dough with oil and keep covered in warm place for 3 hours.
Just before serving time, make 8-10 balls.
Roll each ball to an round / oblong shape. Pull from one side to get pointed tip.
Heat oil in a frying pan. Deep fry bhaturas in medium hot oil till golden brown.
Serve imediatelly with chana masala.
