Turmeric Smoothie

This Turmeric Smoothie is prepared by simply adding turmeric to a yogurt or dairy-free milk along with piece of ginger and banana or pineapple for a more rich version. But other few spices such as cardamom, black pepper, ginger, cloves can be added. Turmeric adds depth with its savory-spiced flavor and brightens up the drink with its pretty bright yellow color.

Makes 1 - 2 cup

  • 1 cup of yogurt or dairy-free milk
  • ¼ - ½ cup crushed ice
  • 1 tbsp fresh turmeric, grated (or ½ tsp ground turmeric)
  • samall piece fresh ginger, grated (or ½ tsp ground ginger
  • pinch of cinnamon (optional) pinch of black /white pepper (optional)
  • ¼ cup chopped banana or pineapple fruit (for a richer option)

How to make Turmeric Smoothie:

  1. Add all of the ingredients to a blender and blend for 1 minute on high, or until creamy.
  2. Serve cold.


  • You can use both ground turmeric spice (also known as turmeric powder) or fresh turmeric root in your smoothie recipes.
  • Research finds that pairing turmeric with black pepper increases absorption of curcumin, so you can add a pinch ground pepper.
