Parsi Dhansak Masala

  • 1 tbsp mustard oil
  • pinch of asafoerida
  • 1 tsp garlic paste
  • 5 dry red chilies
  • 2 tsp cumin powder
  • 2 tsp mustard seeds, grounded
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp turmeric powder

How to make Parsi Dhansak Powder:

  1. Roast all ingredients together over low heat in a nonstick skillet, until fragrant (just few seconds)
  2. Cool the spices and grind to a fine powder in a small coffee grinder. Store in an air tight jar.
  1. Heat the mustard il in a pan.
  2. Add asafoetda, then remaining ingredients. Cook till a fragrand smell emanates.
  3. Cool and store in an airtight container.
